Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world and one of the main centers for Kathmandu Buddhist Tour in the Kathmandu valley. Boudhanath Stupa has been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, surrounded by Tibetan settlers; the place gives you a feel of a small Tibetan village. While you are there, walk around the stupa and spin the Mani wheels (prayer wheels) and find your inner peace among the many monks who chant prayers in unison. Boudhanath Stupa lies around 4 miles away from the heart of Kathmandu city.
The city of Patan is another spot for this Tour. This age-old place that lies in the Lalitpur district, which is in the Kathmandu valley, Patan still holds the charm of the times gone by. Watch the world go by, it takes 30 minutes to the ancient city of Patan in Lalitpur district. Once there, an arched gateway welcomes you to the old city of "Patan." As you walk past the whitewashed gate, you enter a square lined with cafes, grocery stores and huge iron bells. Still beyond the alleys lie mostly medieval neighborhoods of the city. Temples and Stupas are in abundance, in various shapes, sizes and antiquity. Take all the pictures you want. After Patan, we will drive to another place called Swayambhunath Stupa
Finally, we will be driving to Swayambhunath Temple major attraction of this Tour. Swayambhunath is situated on a hilltop rising above Kathmandu city; you can spot it from afar as the crown of the temple glints in the afternoon sun, with all the prayer flags fluttering above it. Legend has it that once the entire valley was filled with water, it was an enormous lake, out of which grew a lotus.
Thus valley came to be known as Swayambhu, meaning "Self-Created." This is also an essential stop for Buddhist pilgrims on their Kathmandu Tour. Climb up the 365 steps to reach the "Swayambhunath" Stupa, it is also popularly known as the Monkey Temple, as it is home to troops of mischievous primates. The ever-seeing Buddha's eyes painted on the top of the temple, the monks chanting for world peace and the colorful prayer flags fluttering above will set you in serenity. View the city from a different vantage point, it is simply exhilarating.
This Tour runs all time of the year but we recommend doing it during either Spring (March to May) or Autumn (September to November). Nepal is a country whose climate depends on the monsoon. There is usually a dry season, which runs from October to May, and the monsoon season, from June to September.
From June to September, the monsoon season is characterized by heavy and violent rains that reach their peak between mid-June and the end of August. We do not recommend this period of heavy rainfall when the heat intensifies. In September, the rains become less intense, especially in the valleys, especially those near Tibet where they are even non-existent.
The dry season, from October to April, is the most recommended. This is the time when Nepal's traditional festivals take place. The sunshine is important, the atmosphere pleasant during the day, with maximum temperatures reaching, in Kathmandu, 16 degrees C in January, the coldest month. February, March, April and November are the most pleasant as the air softens, with maximum temperatures reaching 24oC in April. Excellent period for tourism and trekking, the dry season is preferred to discover Nepal
